Oops, I did it Again ….

Can Arsenal continue their fine run since that dark day somewhere in N17? 7 games unbeaten, 17 points. Since January, 11 played. Won 8 D2 L1. 26 points from 33 – that is League winning consistency and very different from the norm.

Different opinions abound about today’s game. Either it is good or bad to play a team already relegated. Will QPR play without restraint and freedom given they have no pressure? Will their players look to cement contracts or put on good performances in order to find a buyer? Or will they just have a dose of the Sod it’s and stroll through the afternoon? My guess is that this will be a tough game for Arsenal.

Those who have read my posts will know my opinion of Mr Redknapp.  I like QPR but when they took on this miscreant I looked forward greatly to watching him twitch his way to an ignominious end of the season. And this is why  ….. First off, Redknapp is ugly. Second, he has delusions of grandeur and a bizarre belief in his ability. Third, he destroys clubs. Fourth, he is a Spud. Fifth, he is a crook (allegedly). Sixth, he is as thick as a very thick person. Seventh, His son is a tool. Eighth, he thinks he is amusing and definitely not a wheeler-dealer. Ninth, his style of football is awful and based upon hard work and the love of a big man (Crouch). Tenth, he is a Spud and as such hates Arsenal. I could continue but you get the drift ……

Unknown

“So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodnight”

Harry would never allow his team to lay down to Arsenal. Never. And QPR have some decent players – a fine GK, a quality CF, some battlers in midfield (Jenas loves a goal against us), Traore at FB and Bobby Zamora returns upfront.

For a tactical view of the game, may I recommend 7am Kickoff?

As always how Arsenal play this afternoon is tantamount; no fear, attack from the first, get an early goal and consolidate, stay tight at the back and organise at set-pieces, don’t make stupid individual errors and work hard. Simple really (can I have a job please, Mr Gazidis?)

We have almost a full squad to pick from. The loss of OG continues to highlight Mr Wenger’s curious decision to go into the season with just one Centre Forward. Doesn’t he recall the dark days of playing Arshavin at CF? We have to find someone in summer. But who knows – maybe Nik Bendtner will come back and fulfill his potential (as if!!).

My Team:

qpr v arse

I would love to see Ox start but it just ain’t gonna happen. Perhaps Wilshire will start ahead of Ramsey but Aaron has been great these past few weeks and so I expect JW to get 30 mins alongside Ox or Gerv. Monreal is back in the squad and could get some pitch time if we are well ahead on 70 mins.

Today’s English Explorer: Verney Lovett Cameron (1844-1894). Superb name and the full facial set. What more can we ask on this fine sunny Saturday afternoon? Vern’s continent was Africa. At a time when the English were wandering all over Africa discovering stuff, Vern was just walking, and walking distances.

Starting as an assistant to David Livingstone, Lovett made his first independent mission to Lake Tanganika where he followed the Congo-Zambezi watershed. This took him to the coast and Cameron thus became the first European to cross Africa from sea to sea (or is it ocean to ocean?). He later joined Richard Burton (one of our previous explorers) on an expedition through West Africa

230px-Verney_Lovett_Cameron_1878

Verney has a touch of the Aaron Ramsey about him, don’t you think?

Verney Cameron died falling off a horse in Leighton Buzzard, which, as we all know, is a treacherous and dangerous place. He was just 50 y.o.

Another vital 3 points on offer today. We are doing well and under normal circumstances should expect a victory today but as we know there is many a slip twix’t cup and lips.

p.s. Did I mention how happy I am that “Arry is Championship bound?

  2. “Different opinions abound about today’s game. Either it is good or bad to play a team already CHAMPIONS. Will MANCHESTER UNITED play without restraint and freedom given they have no pressure?”

That’s what I wrote for our last game. OK, not exactly word for word… but close enough to warrant a case for plagiarism.

I actually got absolutely no response to my post, so good luck with your version, Big Copycat.

    Good morning to you all,

Congratulations to Big Al, again, do you sit up all night hitting the refresh key?

BR, you ask if Verney Cameron has a touch of Aaron Ramsey about him, I think it’s the other way round Verney went sideways from coast to coast, Aaron tends to pass the ball the same way. :D

  4. QPR have won just ONCE in their last 14 Premiership games.
    At home to Sunderland.

No further comment, apart from “What’s that about the law of averages…?” :-)

  5. Blimey, it’s my closest rival yet again beaten by a short head.
Morning Norfolk Gooner. Been for your walk yet?

  6. LB says:

It’s interesting how Arshavin’s spell as CF is remembered as a dark time. I seem to recall this came about because RvP and Adebayor were both injured but what I think is forgotten is that our diminutive Russian was scoring goals for fun; he was playing so well that people like me were writing match reports using the great name of Bergkamp in the same sentence as Arshavin.

The thing I liked about it was that it forced the game to be played on the floor. Although, I was wasting my time on a Wenger hating blog I don’t remember his performances as being that bad at all.

No doubt, someone will come up with some stats (yawn) in an attempt to prove me wrong.

  7. Qpr

  8. Norfolk Gooner says:

    Big Al,

No walk today, yesterday was was exceptional, warm sunny weather a good walk along the Norfolk coast starting at Salthouse then up onto Muckleburgh Hill and so back to The Dun Cow, that was a disappointment as it was impossible to park, so we went onto The Three Swallows at Cley-next-the-sea. Lovely fresh Cromer crab sandwich and a pint of Adams’ Ghost Ship. What more could anyone want?

  9. Redknapp a Spud ? Don’t think so. He and his Dad lifelong Gunners fans. He has alluded to this many times.

  10. LB says:

I don’t know about life long, more like a life time ago.

  11. Harry likes a bung
He had a bank account in his dogs name .
    He’s related to George graham

  12. Norfolk Gooner says:

Sheepy, ‘Arry’s dog related to George Graham? How does that work?

  13. radical says:

Calamity Wenger who has never won an European Trophy, seeks out a place in Europe whence he embraces Naviety close to his bosom, for only to be mercilessly slayed by his nemesis Tactics.

  15. VCC says:

Norfolk Gooner….Cromer crab sandwich washed down with a pint of Adams. Absolute bliss. A millionaire couldn’t live better.

  16. VCC says:

BTW….Harry Redknapp is a self confessed Gooner.

  17. Norfolk
    “What more could anyone want?”

No idea. I haven’t clue what ‘Cromer crab’ is, and I’ve never heard of ‘Adams’ Ghost Ship’.

VCC probably hasn’t a clue either. Probably just showing off :-)

  18. A question for SHEEP…

Do you count people to help you nod off to sleep?

  19. VCC says:

    Big Al.

Cromer crab is exported all over the world.

    Adams is real ale.

    I also drink = Speckled Hen….Spitfire…Bombadier…Bishops finger.

I strongly recommend you give them a try when possible.

Sounds like you have lived a sheltered life.

  20. VCC says:

    Big Al… ;-)

  21. No need for the winking eye, VCC… I HAVE lived a sheltered life.

Thailand doesn’t have any of those drinks to my knowledge.
The UK has a Thai beer though – Chang.
    I don’t like it.Yuk!

  22. Norfolk Gooner says:

Apologies to Southwold’s fantastic brewery, It’s Adnams not Adams. Ghost ship is a 4.5% ABV Pale Ale, fresh Hoppy flavour with a long finish.

Welcome Radical, I’m sure you at least know what you are talking about.

  24. Thanks Big Raddy for another good matchday post.
Thanks for the ale and crab info.
Thanks Chas for not posting your usual nonsense regarding ‘lesser’ teams like QPR,

    Gotta call it a day.
Time to prepare my evening meal of jam sarnies and a glass of water.
    …how the other half live…

  25. Gooner In Exile says:

We’re talking Ale and Crab? This blog used to be all fine wines and lobster :D

Actually don’t mind Adnams Ghost Ship myself, although heartily recommend ales from both Wolfe and Reepham (might have another name which escapes me) breweries (smaller independent breweries from Norfolk).

Right fine pre match as ever BR, we need to be cautious yet attacking, last season I nearly lost all my hair as another clump got torn out whilst Vermaelen continued to try and add numbers to attack from the first half onwards, on Loftus Road that was always a dangerous strategy as they can move the ball back to front quickly. We paid for this last season.

Today is shame for players who can work in tight spaces so I’m all for Santi, Jack, TR7 and Gerv to form the basis of our attack, with Arteta sitting deep and Pod spearheading the line.

  26. Big Raddy says:

Southwold. I used to go there often and was there just last summer. Stayed in The Bell at Warberswick. Recommended to all right minded people.

Is ‘Arry a true Spud? He’s Wist “Aaaam for sure.I know Twitchy jr played for Spuds, but I think he considers himself an adopted scouser (true Liverpudlian – Like Arry’s a true Spud !!). He said when he was a “yung un” he used to go over the Arsenal to watch games. I truly don’t expect him to “lay down” but if we’re discussing theories and motivation, does it occur that maybe he’s a little unhappy with mr Levy and the potato board? After all, he did finish in the CL spot they so craved last season. It really wasn’t his fault Arjen Robben is a c*^t. Yet they uncerimoniously dumped him.I’m not so sure “Arry will be busting a gut to nelp the N.17 circus ??

  29. GoonerB says:

Great report Raddy. I keep running into Spuds fans that I know today and they seem more relaxed about the last few games than I am. Can I also say that I enjoyed your post yesterday Micky but didn’t have time to comment. Are you really up a mountain, and if so are you indulging in anything that could result in Raddy using you as the next pre-match explorer? Off to a garden party now so see you all later.

  30. Gooner In Exile says:

GoonerB I imagine Micky is hanging off Lands End dropping down to Sennen Cove to enjoy some cream teas….hardly an explorer :)

  31. evonne says:

Only 2 more Raddy’s this season :( oh dear, oh dear oh dear, life is going to be boring soon………….. I think I will go back and read again some of those fine posts during the summer; they are well worth it!

So Redknapp to Raddy is what Pullis is to GiE, or Fergie to GM and Chary, very amusing :)

I cannot see us losing today, no flipping way we can lose. They will try, but they just haven’t got it in them, have they?

Norfolk – I love your first comment, lots of ROLFing

  32. RockyLives says:

I’ve been watching the Spuds game.

They are pants and should be at least two down, but for Saints’ woeful finishing.

Which, I’m afraid to say, almost certainly means the Spudders will win it in the second half.

  33. RockyLives says:

    Great Pre-Match BR

  34. Big Raddy says:

Watching Swansea. Dreadful stuff. Half a billion pounds spent making this MC team and they are so dull to watch.

  35. Red Arse says:

So Micky the Goony Bird, is feathering his nest I take it? :-)

I have just read your pre-Match BR, and enjoyed it – thank you. :-)

  36. RockyLives says:

    Hello Redders
    How you?

  37. Red Arse says:

Just so so , Rocky. You keeping well? :-)

  38. RockyLives says:

As predicted – Spuds score despite being shit.

    Bale.

They really are the ultimate one man team.

  39. RockyLives says:

I’m fine Redders – but a bit nervous about today, particularly now that Spuds have scored.

  40. Red Arse says:

There was a feeling that he/they would somehow do it. :-(

  41. Gooner In Exile says:

    Squeak :D

It was a must win before today’s Bale result, now it’s a must must win.

  42. Red Arse says:

As Craig Burley has just said, if we cannot beat a shower like QPR to get a CL place, we do not deserve it.

    Cannot argue with that.

  43. Big Raddy says:

So the miscreants spawned it again.

    COYRRG

  44. evonne says:

  49. Big Raddy says:

Lovely pass from Ramsey for the goal

  50. Norfolk Gooner says:

Arteta credited with the assist by BBC.

Still, who cares it’s a GOOOOAAAALLLL.

  51. Big Raddy says:

    NG. Danish tv!

We need much more movement in QPR’s box. Too static

  52. Norfolk Gooner says:

It’s 6pm, time to pour a glass of Malbec for my wife, I shall have a bottle of Breakspears’ Oxford Gold.

Enjoy the rest of the game, ….goes of singing…one nil to the Arsenal…one nil to the Arsenal…

  53. Danish Gooner says:

    Sterile,static rubbish.

  54. Gooner In Exile says:

Now if I was Arsene if be handing out a bit of a bollocking and getting subs to warm up from the start of the second half.

We need to get out of this habit of stopping playing forward with commitment once we get the first goal, any team in the PL is capable of nicking a goal. When QPR started to play we had dropped to their pace so were suddenly chasing shadows.

QPR have done their utmost to spoil our game by not watering pitch, I thought Rambo may have done himself a serious injury when he fell over trying to turn after about 20 minutes.

Need to start the second half much quicker. QPR have at least 4 players with goals in them.

  55. Gooner In Exile says:

But we’re winning Danish…..performance means nothing. Ask Chelsea and Bayern fans who were at the Allianz last May.

  56. Hi everyone, we’re going to need a post for tomorrow, either a match report or comments about the game. Step up a volunteer please :D

  57. Gooner In Exile says:

    Peaches Match Report so far:

    Theo scored, handbrake applied.

  58. Red Arse says:

    What a strange half.

We score a super-fast goal and knock the stuffing out of QPR, you would think, but casual tiki taki passing and a complete lack of urgency or of shooting, apart from Theo’s toe poke for the goal has let QPR back into the game.

No wonder AW shakes his head. The game should have been won — now it is still up for grabs.

Come on guys — stop making us suffer!

  59. Big Raddy says:

Agree. That was a very poor half from the boys in red.Too many players not performing.

Thankfully, we have JW and Ox to add some vim because at the moment I cannot see any movement up front and Podolski is offering nothing.

    Worrying.

  60. RockyLives says:

Need a rocket at HT. we could blow this.

  61. Big Raddy says:

When did we start to play such boring football? We have some fantastic players yet they will not take a risk.

Have a bloody shot because this sideways across the box stuff when faced with just 4 defenders is pants

  62. Big Raddy says:

Offside with a 2 on 2? Pod get a grip man

  63. Kgooner says:

Gerv on the left for pod

  64. Gooner In Exile says:

Rosicky on FM everyone else on MW.

  65. William McGoonagal says:

Arsenal’s goal difference over sperz at this point in time…13! unlucky for who? Will we see st totterings day this year or(gulp) p-arse over ☻ ?

  66. Gooner In Exile says:

Judging by the cuts to Arsene and Bouldie I’d say they weren’t overly happy.

  67. Big Raddy says:

Come on Mr Wenger. Make some changes

  68. Red Arse says:

    BR,

You have put into words a nagging feeling I have had for some time.

I do not like the team losing, but that’s football and will happen to every team.

What I have come to realise is what you have alluded to, that I no longer watch a team that plays beautiful football, come what way, and that is far, far worse than losing.

There is just one team putting their all into this game — and it is not ours.

  69. Gooner In Exile says:

For me this performance is all about the 3 points.

We have heard too often that our all out attack has cost us…so now the players seem to risk averse.

  70. evonne says:

    oh dear.

    Santi looked exhausted

  71. Gooner In Exile says:

In the bag wasn’t pretty but it simply does not matter at this stage of the season with much to lose.

Peaches, I’ll do a very brief report.

  72. You’re a star, thank you very much :P

  73. evonne says:

you couldn’t do a lengthy report if you tried ;)

a win is a win, is a win.

  74. LB says:

24 seconds of pleasure and 92 minutes 36 seconds of nail biting hell.

But the three points are in the bag and as one has said and many more will follow, that is all today was about.

Goodness our attack lacks so much I don’t know where to start.

  75. MickyDidIt89 says:

Didnt see or listen to game
    Just read throough comments
    Well done for eduring
I dont mind if every game is phew if we win them all
Lets get the cl spot then get the players we need in the summer
    Back tomorrow evening

  76. LB says:

If there was an opportunity to swap Walcott for Suarez would you take it?

  77. Kgooner says:

@LB yes! Despite all his baggage and twilight fangs. Wouldnt you?

  78. evonne says:

LB – NO! Theo will never shame the Club. I’d take Bale though

  79. RockyLives says:

    Phew indeed!

Once again our defence looked very good, despite Monreal having a tough time against Townsend.

Great save by Szcz towards the end – definitely gained us two points.

The MF seemed mostly all off their game to some extent.

The toothlessness in attack was worrying.

  80. RockyLives says:

    LB
I don’t see them as interchangeable in terms of what they offer a team (although may not have been what you were getting at).

My answer would probably just about be a ‘yes’, but more because we are lacking goal threat more than we are lacking wide players, so Theo could be replaced by Oxo, Gerv etc.

  81. chas says:

    Fine pre-match as always, BR.
Definitely think Ramsey should grow a massive beard.

Great result today. Three points is all that matters.
Up the Arse. :) :)

  82. Big Raddy says:

    Mmmm. Good question LB :-)

How many times will we say it is the points are all that matter.

We are good enough to destroy teams who play like QPR did in the first half, and we did so early in the season. What has changed?

  83. RockyLives says:

    BR
You’re right – we should be putting 3 or 4 past QPR.

If we had scored three today our GD would have equalled the Chavs, and who knows whether that could be a factor come the end of the season?

  84. Big Raddy says:

    Good Point RL.

We will have to score them against Wigan! (and the Chavs could lose their next two games)

  85. RockyLives says:

Still, we have more points than we did after 36 games last year! (67 versus 66)

  86. RockyLives says:

We could really do with ManUre doing the business tomorrow.

  87. Big Raddy says:

Another 6 points would be our best since 2004 (apparently).

SAF will not let his team roll over. Plus it is Scholes last game and MU hate Benitez. If Chavs lose nervous end to their season.

What is pants is that our final two games are against teams who will be desperate for the points and let’s face it, we are looking tired.

  88. RockyLives says:

With luck, Toon will be safe by the final day.

  89. evonne says:

yes Raddy, it is Wigan that worries me the most

  90. LB says:

I we beat Wigan are they down?

  91. LB says:

The reason for my rather daft question above was that we have players who are so technically gifted operating on the edge of the box but what goes on inside is so disjointed. We are crying out for a player with equally good control inside the box and Suarez is superb in there.

Anyway, my stream of wishful thinking went that surely Suarez will want CL football and Walcott is a Liverpool fan so can’t we do a deal some how?

    Sigh!

  92. RockyLives says:

    Depends on other results LB.

  93. RockyLives says:

    LB
In that case (Suarez) I agree with your analysis :)

  94. kelsey says:

    Hello
firstly will get back to you peaches as we are moving in a few days and will be mores settled and have full Internet

We looked so composed on the ball but again not in the final third.Walcott did have a good game but who else in attack ?
Podolski must be injured as he was totally ineffectual, and the need for a top striker continues.
Ramsey always puts in a good shift but has the distinction this season of the most shots in the PL without scoring.
Go to the 52nd minute and the space opens up for Rosicky and we all scream shoot but of course he takes the wrong option and this has been a major fault with many players this season, so is it the system or have the players not got the confidence anymore.
Three vital points but so far not impressed with Monreal.

  95. kelsey says:

    Good thinking LB

  96. Belfastgooner says:

Evonne I think the Wigan game will be the easier of the 2 remaining fixtures. They play at home to Swansea on Tuesday then the FA Cup on saturday before travelling to THOF on Tuesday week. They will have to be a spent force by then…so should be wee buns for us! It’s all good:)

  97. radical says:

Walcott man of the match performance, excellent goal and could have had an hat-trick. With one more season under his belt he and along with Ramsey will be like new signings.

The Team are gelling and their will be no need for additional signings if we can keep the core of the Team together..

  98. evonne says:

may your words become facts Belfast!!
but I have heard Martinez saying that staying in EPL is more important than the cup

  99. radical says:

Another clean sheet Wenger is doing wonders with that defence also very astute substitutions.

  100. Shard says:

A win is a win is a win. All the rest is less important right now. Playing poorly (even though we weren’t poor for the most part) and winning, is far more preferable to playing well and dropping points. We need that CL spot right now. Points make even crap performances beautiful. Just as the people who need trophies have had to (or should have) accepted it, maybe we also need to accept that for the short(er) term, we may not get beautiful football either.

It’ll come though, as will the trophies.

Next year we’ll exorcise the demons of the dutch skunk thanks to the Dutch God’s statue outside our stadium, and then the Arsenal juggernaut starts. Hopefully we won’t be derailed this season, and can qualify for next year’s CL.

  101. Big Raddy says:

Is that really radical? Must be the first positive comments he has written.

  102. Gooner In Exile says:

Kelsey did you think he chose the wrong option? I thought it was the right one given bodies in front of him, there’s a huge difference between Cazorla’s shot that Green saves and Rosickys chance to shoot, when Rosicky has it three defenders are shutting him down Theo is in space so if he can be threaded it’ll be a beautiful pass. Cazorla’s shot comes because he has clear sight of goal and time to hit it.

For me Rosicky chose right but I don’t believe that shooting isn’t important, it’s just pointless wasting them by hitting them into three defenders.!ok you might luck a deflection but if say its very rare.

  103. Big Raddy says:

Unlike kelsey. I am increasingly impressed by Monreal and thought that apart from the mistake that led to his yellow card he had a fine game

  104. RockyLives says:

    BR
It’s meant to be sarcasm. Everyone has been doing a good job of ignoring so far…

  105. chas says:

PT is being sarcastic. Leopard’s don’t change their spots.

  106. Shard says:

Studying till late at night, even interspersed by blogging, is such hard work that talk of Monreal is making me feel hungry.

  107. chas says:

    Snaperooni, Rockster

  108. chas says:

Yum, nachos with with melted cheese and chili beef

  109. Shard says:

and some extra paprika.. Just like our left back, these nachos just need a little seasoning, and they’ll be perfect.. :)

  110. Gooner In Exile says:

You know who is a good player who could possibly be even better in another shirt? Maloney…..he makes Wigan tick so regularly.

  111. GunnerN5 says:

A Chelsea loss at Man U and a draw with Spurs would mean we would all have played 36 games and we would have 67 points to their 66, which would put us in the drivers seat for 3rd.

However Wigan at home and Newcastle away will prove to be very difficult games.

Oh, and these I-0 games are very tough on my nerves.

  112. RockyLives says:

    You’re not kidding Gn5

    Watching the hockey?

  113. radical says:

What Wenger has money can’t buy a gift to change the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary.

  114. Can’t sleep :(
That was awful to watch but we got 3 points which is all that matters at this point (or any point really). I only watched from about 30 minutes. I never really thought they would score. The defence is working very well now but it’s obviously affected our attacking play. It’s going to be huge summer. I think this year will reveal whether Wenger has still got it or all the doubters are right.

  115. I think Monreal is a great player.

  116. RockyLives says:

    GM
But at least when the defence is playing well we pick up points, even though the MF and attack are struggling.

When it’s the other way round we end up losing.

I’d rather build from a solid back line.

We’ve missed Giroud in the last two games and I’m glad he’ll be back for the final game.

  117. RockyLives says:

Are you really awake at 4.15am?

  118. I fell asleep at 9 PM last night and I’m wide awake now. If we buy a very good striker I think we can do well next season.

  119. chas says:

    Who’s awake?

  120. I think Giroud does a lot more than he’s given credit for

  121. chas says:

    I’ve been awake since 3.15.
That was after watching those three pillocks on MOTD too.
Well, up to the end of the Arse highlights anyway.

  122. RockyLives says:

    Chas
You just back from a night out?

Or old man’s bladder syndrome? :)

  123. chas says:

I was thinking Giroud was out for the season. :)
Podolski didn’t really look like he had a clue playing CF.

  124. RockyLives says:

What did they say about us on MOTD?

Last time I watched it the Brain of the North (Shearer) said we wouldn’t make top four.

  125. RockyLives says:

Pod is not a lone CF.

He has played as half of a front two for Germany alongside Klose, which suits him better. He’s just not a player who can hold up the ball in that position.

It makes you realize how hard that job is and how good OG is.

  126. chas says:

    The highlights were quite funny.
They showed all of our chances making it look like we dominated, though they did point out that there was a 60 minute gap between Theo hitting the post and Koscielny’s chance.

They said it was a functional 3 points.
I tend not to listen too closely especially as I was recovering from Lineker jizzing over monkey boy’s goal in the game before.

  127. chas says:

The manc v chavs game is being shown in 3D at one of my new local pubs. Is it any good?

  128. RockyLives says:

Only ever seen movies in 3D and I can’t say I see the point.

Silly glasses and you lose 25% of the colour quality.

Anyway, do you really want to see the Dutch Judas in that many dimensions (even if we do need him to do us a favour)?

  129. chas says:

I was hoping to get a good view when his spleen burst.

Funny you should mention him though.
I think I may be over his treachery. He just seems like any other hideous manc player now.

  130. RockyLives says:

A hat trick tomorrow and I’ll be loving him.

Arseblog made the point on his podcast that he should have missed the penalty against us.

It would have been a cool thing to do. No-one could prove it was deliberate but a lot of us might have suspected. I think it would have healed a few wounds.

    He didn’t though. Twunt.

  131. chas says:

If he was going to miss a penalty, would it be wide of the post or over the bar? Hitting the post would be best but it might just rebound to the granny shagger.

  132. I enjoyed sitting in your seat chas thanks for that. Your brother is a nice bloke. There’s a grey haired bloke a few seats from you who’s a bit of a knob tough.

  133. chas says:

You were very welcome to it, GM.
If you’re talking about who I think you’re talking about then he’s the reason we moved seats to get a little further away from him.

  134. chas says:

Though grey-haired doesn’t really narrow it down too much. :)

  135. Gooner In Exile says:

    Morning earlybirds.

I have similar thoughts about Pod….and Theo actually. I was going to say something in the match report but think there is a discussion worth having so it may be a post worthy topic.

We have missed Giroud, his ability to occupy defenders and willingness to compete for long balls has allowed us in recent weeks to get up the pitch, yesterday when the ball was cleared there wasn’t a lot of hope of it sticking so the defence doesn’t move up, which in turn makes it harder for the ball to stay up pitch as the midfield don’t get squeezed forward by the defence, it’s one of the oldest infinite loops in football.

  136. chas says:

It’s always good to have the option of a sideways pass, but when it’s your only option it’s that much easier for the opposition to execute a successful press.

  137. Your brother said you moved to get away from him chas

  138. evonne says:

who would you like to be relegated, realistically of course. I know that most of you would like Spurs to go down, but that aint gonna happen :)

I don’t like Norwich because of Aviva, Wigan because their survival could equal our failure and QPR because of Rosie’s owner

  139. evonne says:

need to buy some extra strength mouthwash, might need it after cheering for the Mancs and Pool today, yaaaaaaak

  140. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All,

Some very entertaining blogging in the dark hours

I would like to see Newcastle go down.

  141. LB says:

    GIE

You seem to know about these things: is now the right time to cancel my ESPN subscription?

  142. LB says:

Newcastle going down would be very funny.

  143. evonne says:

Onlinefooty stream for the scummy game yesterday was excellent

  144. LB says:

Can’t cycle, not a happy bunny.

Came back from Mallorca on Tuesday following a long cycling weekend with 17 mates (glorified piss up) Spent four hours cleaning and putting my 5 grand bike back together, finally finish, so I take it for a spin round the block to make sure everything is OK.

Half way round and a cat runs out but instead of going around me puts its head into my wheel, its head gets caught in the spokes, so now all four paws are pointing in the air, I am looking down thinking what are you doing. The cat’s head hits the forks, it breaks a spoke, I go flying over the handle bars and land on my knee — which still hurts. The cat runs off, I swear (a lot).

The upshot is I can’t ride so you have got me and my loveable style of blogging for a few days.

  145. Big Raddy says:

LB. Nasty. You were lucky to escape with minor injuries. I have never liked cats – they are badly designed – though one must admire it’s survival.

I have just bought a new bike which reflects my advancing age. It is a Velorbis Gents Classic. and rides like a Jag XJ6.

  146. Big Raddy says:

evonne. Agree. The new site is excellent as is the HD stream. Shame about the commentators.

  147. LB says:

Hmmm, Velorbris……that’s a solid looking bike, a very classic shape, perfect for Copenhagen I would have thought.

  148. Gooner In Exile says:

LB That sounds like a painful incident. Catch the cat, find the owner and claim of their pet insurance….if my dog injured anyone the limit is £1m.

Anyway to the more pressing question…..now is the time to cancel ESPN if you don’t watch Serie A or US Sports…..although Sky covers the important US sports.

I cancelled Thursday as its 31 days notice anyway so you’ll have it until end of May. Sky emailed to say they would cancel on 31st July which makes me think it’ll go free to air next season.

I think next season will see a number of PayPerView games as BT sell on their block of fixtures when they realise not many people will switch to BT Vision for football alone.

  149. LB says:

    Hi Evonne

What is the exact address of that TV Footy site? Thanks.

  150. RockyLives says:

    Peaches
Don’t forget to send the telegram to Tiddles:

“Mission accomplished – come on home.”

We now have LB to blog with for a few days :)

  151. Was it a black cat LB ;)

Re – the dutchman’s penalty last week I was also thinking he ought to miss …………. there was little point in him applauding the Arsenal supporters after he’d nailed the penalty :(

  152. New Post ……………………….
