Sure you can play the Arteta/Jack axis with Santi ahead. Here’s my problem, I want Santi and Ox in midfield, and that definately means a traditional DM.
Where does Ox play in the first system? The answer is on the wing

Think Jenks is going to change a few opinions this year…definite potential there was demonstrated last year and hopefully a year older, a year wiser and cutting out some of the errors that littered his game last year…more worried about left side. Neither Gibbs or Santos are the solution in my book. One has been given chance after chance in the PL and either can’t stay fit or is spending 3 first team games getting back to match fitness, the other is even acknowledged by his international manager as “not a defender”…

As for DMs…I’m one of those who think we can go two ways, but having a strong, disciplined DM will give us a tactical club in the bag we don’t currently have (and in front of our back four, with wing backs…that offers essential cover). the other option is to go back to 1997 – 2000 and have a “tandem” system with deep-lying midfielders taking it in turns to sit back / maraud forward as Petit / Vieira did then. Even here I think we could do with a bit more quality, especially since we don’t know when Wilshere will return and how long it’ll take to get back to his best when he does…

I agree, this ‘DM’ thing has gotten out of hand. These sorts are moving out of the game, and being replaced with more complete midfielders.

I agree Raddy, Sagna can’t get back soon enough. Jenks is not ready, we should have been giving le Coq practice at RB as he is the best candidate until BC returns.
