I agree with LB, Song had to cover for the deficiencies of the players in front of him.
For me he is one of our most valuable players, I have watched him from when he played in the reserves at Barnet’s ground, where he was consistantly the best player on the pitch.
I really don’t think people appreciate just what he does like Madrid didn’t appreciate Claude Makelele until he left.
I would still like to see us bring in M’Vila as I think he is the big bruiser we could really do with but that looks dead in the water now

I remain as optimistic as I was after the game on the weekend. What I saw was a total reorganisation of the team to cope with a RvP or without — and the first half, withou,t remains impressive.

I totally agree Micky.

I have constantly argued that Song moved further up the pitch last season in an attempt to make up for the deficiencies of those just in front of him; now we have Cazorla there should be far less reason for him to do so.

I am amazed that anyone who saw Park when he first arrived thought he was anything other than a shirt seller, anything more I only saw as a bonus.

Park is an inexpensive long shot.

Yes Song was caught too high up the pitch last season, but so were the FB’s, Verm and even Kos. In many ways Song was making up for the absense of a Cesc’Nasri. Now we have Cazorla, and hopefully a more restrained approach to our attacking/defending balance, meaning Song “could” stay put and be a superb DM.
